Isi Hayim Clinical Psychologist
Southern Suburbs Western Cape
I am a qualified clinical psychologist registered with the HPCSA and have been in private practice for over 20 years. I am based in Observatory and Hout Bay, Cape Town.
My commitment as a therapist is to provide an authentic warm collobarative environment which is essential for personal growth and development.
I offer both brief and longer-term individual psychotherapy for adults, as well as adolescents (from 12 years of age) and adults. I also offer systemic family therapy and couple counselling. When working with adolescents, I adopt an inclusive approach – that is I consult with the parents or primary caregivers, as well as other adults such as teachers who are significantly involved in the adolescents’ life. The information I obtain from this intake process provides the necessary insight into the adolescents’ circumstances and the therapy going forward is tailored to meet the unique needs of the adolescent.
I practice within an integrative psychodynamic framework, but recognise that to provide effective patient-centred therapy requires flexibility and when necessary I combination of cognitive, affective, and behavioural techniques.
This decision is based on clinical best practice after considering the presenting circumstances and the individual client or patients’ personal psychotherapeutic goals.
